ADMINISTRATION

 COLLECTION DEVELOPMENT

  • Consulting is provided to help member libraries reach the goal of two to four volumes per capita.

  • The system contracts with vendors to provide library materials, related technical processing, and a book-leasing program at a discount to member libraries. Member libraries receive the same discounts when using local funds to do business with those vendors.

CONSULTING

  • Consultation relative to all aspects of public library services and management is available to library staffs, trustees, Friends, and city/county officials.

  • Consulting services relative to system membership or to the establishment of a library are available to non-members and to communities with no existing library.

  • When consulting expertise is not available from system staff, member libraries may use NETLS Spot Consulting funds to employ an outside consultant.

CONTINUING EDUCATION

  • NETLS CE workshops provide training and networking opportunities for library directors, staff members, trustees, Friends and volunteers

  • NETLS Technology Consultants conduct hands-on computer training workshops

  • NETLS members are kept informed of other CE opportunities including Texas State Library and Archives Commission workshops

  • The NETLS Library Science collection includes staff development and training resources available for loan to member libraries.

PROGRAMMING/PUBLICITY

  • Two public library programming showcases are offered each year in order to evaluate local area performers for library programming.

  • A directory of performing artists, lecturers, and others willing to perform or speak at area libraries is available at showcases and on request.

This project is made possible by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Texas State Library and Archives Commission.
