Electronic Discussion Lists
Join in the discussion! It does not cost anything to subscribe. If you have ever wondered what other librarians do in a similar situation, you may find these discussion groups very useful. This is the electronic version of the NETLS regional forums. Join any of these electronic discussions and find out where these groups meet and how often. There are two lists: tekkies and netlsnews.
How to join a list by email
Send an email with no subject to:
LISTSERV@LISTSERV.NETLS.ORG
and in the body of the message put:
JOIN listname Your Full Name (Ex: JOIN tekkies John Dewey) or (Ex: JOIN netlsnews John Dewey)
Then, you will receive a confirmation email. Simply click on the link in the email and you will be added to the list. Once you have joined the list, you will receive instructions for leaving the list as well as other preferences via email.
How to join a list by the web interface
Go to this URL: http://discussion.netls.org/scripts/wa.exe
Click on the name of the list you want to join (or leave).
Click on the text "Join or Leave" the listname.
Enter your full name and your email address. You will receive a confirmation email. Simply click on the link in the email and this will add you to the list.
Re-setting your password
If you wish to set your password via the web interface:
Go to this URL: http://discussion.netls.org/scripts/wa.exe
Enter your email address.
Enter your password.
If you can't remember the pw, click on “get a new LISTSERV password” (This will replace your existing pw.) Click on “Register Password”.
You will see a screen that confirms your request for a password has been accepted. However, you will need to check your email and follow the instructions and click on the link in the email. Once you have done this, you can login with your new password.
Setting your Preferences via web interface
Once you have set your password, go to the same URL and login http://discussion.netls.org/scripts/wa.exe
When you have logged in, you will see the lists you are subscribed to.
At the top left, click on "Subscribers Corner". Then select the "Settings" tab. On the Settings page you can set Digest or other settings.
